New Pickup: St Alfred x Asics

These kicks are hot! Buttery suede in dark blue and light grey covers the entire upper of the shoe. Three pairs of laces come with these bad boys; cream, dark blue, and white. the Midsole is the same creamy color that the 2nd set of laces resemble. The outsole is a nice gum colored tone. The lining of the shoe is a really nice white high grain soft leather. The insole seems like memory foams just out of pure comfort. Great high quality asics collaboration, They did it again.

Nike Raising Prices again?

 I have two ideas about the rising cost of shoes. Many people now a days resell  shoes and I think Nike is trying to maximise there profit by increasing their price to about what the resell value is. Another is that everyone has been starting to check out different brands in the shoe game, this is a direct result of Nike's price increase. In the end I think its gonna be a good thing because this allows new companies to target the market and make the game more competitive this will always result in better scenarios for consumers. 

New Pick Up: Nike Foamposite Pro PRM LE

These foams are a nasty pickup. They are your regular foamposite pro with a few differences, gum like sole, obviously new print on the foam, and a new price tag. The idea for a gum colored sole was a great idea by Nike, one of the main factors in foams losing value is because they lose their ice and become yellow very quickly. These new gum soles eliminate that problem. The new print on the foams is a army camouflage print hence the name. The print is pretty nice, in my opinion much better than the camo foams that released earlier this year. And lastly the new price tag, it seems like the rising cost of nike shoes will never stop. Every single month we get a new ridiculous price, they gotta stop.

New Pickup: New Balance 574 x Ball and Buck

These shoes are straight fire! They are my favorite shoe in my entire collection so far. The majority of the shoe is dressed in premium quality buttery suede. 3m surrounds the New Balance N on the side of this sneaker. Camo print convers the toe and high midsole. A brite soulful orange covers the back top of the shoe. With the shoe comes a real life .50 caliber bullet box to show the relation of ball and buck and firearms. Another addition is a small gold plaque with which the collaborators have inscribed, "New Balance x Ball and Buck" with your lucky number out of 178. My pair is number 14 and I was very glad to get my hands on this sweet collaboration.

Cop or Drop? Nike Flyknit Trainer+

I hate to be copied or unoriginal, so many people at my school have the free run 5s. I tried these on at my local running shoes store and they seem comfortable enough. I like the look and they could be a great summer shoe. What do you guys think?

New Pickup: Nike Zoom Kobe 8 'Easter'

I decided to upload this picture because it highlights both of the great features of the kobe 8. You can see the sunlight going through the breathable upper, and the dope color-way. In my opinion these are really performance shoes, because they provide good suport, a good heal-counter, and they are ridiculously light at 9.6 oz. The color-way is made to resemble a painted egg with its three way color divide. Being from the South my family celebrates Mardi Gras, every year we receive a king cake and this shoe reminds me of them. You can see what a king cake looks like here. Last but not least, All of us here at Sneaks and Snaps are wishing Kobe a quick recovery from his achilles tear.

Weekly Sneaks

It's a bit of a slow weekend in sneaks with just a couple pairs of 1s dropping. First off we have the "Boston Garden" edition of the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG.  AKA the "Celtics" edition, the colorway was inspired by the TD Garden in Boston where the Celtics play their home games and the Boston Celtics team colors. They are a limited release and retail is set at $140. Will you be copping?

The other pair of 1s dropping tomorrow is the "Bugs" colorway. Originally released in 1993, they are a mainly white shoe with blue, red, and grey hints throughout. The "Bugs" 8s are also releasing later this spring. Will you be copping this retroed colorway? 

New Pickup: Nike Air Penny 5 'Invisibility cloak'

These shoes are a Penny Hardaway base with a fresh new color way! As you can see from the picture the midsole changes color when under light. They are very comfortable but run a little tight on foot. These are great for ball and casual wear, and I recommend picking them up.

New Pickup: Air Jordan 11 'Bred'

This is a classic shoes and I feel like it's a must have for crazy collections. Most people were inspired by this shoe to start some legendary collections. They feature carbon fiber mid-sole and a patent leather strip around the shoe. The down side, these seem really low quality in comparison to the 2001 11 releases. The Jordan boxes now a day are trash compared to the retro ones. Only reason I got was for the historical value of the shoe. Even though they are low quality they are a must have shoe and a fun one to rock.

New Pick Up!

These just came in the mail last Thursday. They were definitely a come up for me and probably my favorite Lebron X so far. I ordered them on footaction.com the Saturday they came out. They're a beautiful shoe and I love the Miami Dolphin colorway. They're bright and out there which is very nice. The real name for them is  'Setting' which is shown on the emblem on the back of the shoes. They're a great shoe and I am glad I copped!

Weekly Sneaks (3/17 - 3/23)

Didn't get a chance to cop the Breds back in December? No worries, they restocked in stores and online on Saturday. Retailing at $185 ($5 more than usual but still the same price as in December), they're definitely a nice shoe and worth copping. Did you get a chance to take hold of the restock?

Another colorway of the Air Barkley Posite Max released again on Saturday. These came in an 'Eggplant' colorway and retailed at $235. They are all black with purple and teal accents. These were a limited release. Were you able to cop?

Another colorway of the KD 5 dropped this past Saturday. It was a traditional "Aunt Pearl" KD colorway. They were a premium edition and made to help raise Breast Cancer awareness. They are metallic summer white and pinkfire. A limited release, they retailed at $135. Did you come up on this shoe?

Nike SB Dunk High Premium 'When Pigs Fly'

These shoes are possibly my favorites. These shoes are inspired by the phrase when pigs fly. They came out in 2 releases. One came out in Boston's very own concepts. It featured a clear special box, t-shirt, two laces, and a skateboard  inspired by the phrase. The second release was more broad,  that is the one that I got. I really enjoy these shoes and plan to rock 'em the next sunny day.

Shouts out to laced!

When you're in Boston there are a few sneaker stores you have to check out. For example Bodega, At the Buzzer, and the usual Niketown. Sometimes Laced gets overlooked. Laced is right down the street from me and they have been selling their limited editon 'alumni' hoodie. They also have a really nice consignment shop set up, I am always surprised with the new shoes they get. I recommend you check them out and say Sneaks and Snaps sent you. Second off they will be having a raffle for the Nike Air Yezzy 2's. It's going to be $20 per raffle ticket and you can visit their website for more info. I would also check out the shop.

New Pickup: Nike Free Run + 2 DB

This feature Nike shoe was designed by a patient at the OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital.  The patient's name is Grant Olsen who is inspired by the stars, salamanders, and guitar. This shoe features glow in the dark speckled bottom and comes with a really nice pair of galaxy laces. These two features of the shoe are their to represent Grant's love for space. The shoes tongue has an emblem at the top which depicts a guitar and lizard. I felt like it was important to focus a little bit on Grant in this post because the shoe was made to represent him. Grant suffers from acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The free runs come with orange laces with glow in the dark speckles and have 3M on the back nike swoosh. This has been one of my favorite pick ups in my sneaker collection so far.

Weekly Sneaks

The past couple weeks have shown us a ton of new colorways set to drop in the coming months. Images and release dates have started to surface of the "Dolphins" Nike Lebron X, the "Hulk" KD V, and also the Nike Kobe 8 System "Year of the Snake" (Shown below).

Also, the Lebron X "Cork" dropped today, in very limited quantities. Resellers are already charging over 700 for these, so if your trying to cop a pair late, its going to hurt your wallet. Let us know if you were able to cop a pair and for how much.

In other news, Reebok has officially announced that they will be making a retro of the Reebok "Shaq Attaq" and also the Reebok "Shaqnosis". These kicks are set to drop in late spring/mid summer, so mark your calenders for these limited releases. Do you think the retros will have as much buzz as the originals? And do you think that Reebok will have as much success with these retros as they did with Allen Iveson's "Question" and "Answer" retros?

Bodega Warehouse Sale

I was out of Boston for a Soccer tournament this weekend which ment that I missed the majority of the Bodega Warehouse Sale. Luckily for me it was extended one more day. While there I got a killer deal on a T-shirt. I got there the last day of the sale so most of the good items were gone, so I went back to the actual store and picked up the NRG Roshe Runs.

New Balance

Today's pickup was the New Balance 1700 collaboration with United Arrows. These shoes sport premium leather on different parts of the tongue and on the heal of the shoe. The rest of the shoe is primarily suede with some CM and sports mesh. The shoe comes with two lace option of wiry or woven. My personal favorite part of this shoe is the sole, I love it when the sole carries images on it.   The Soles

Weakly Sneaks

     Nike has been releasing some top class gear on honor of BHM. First we got some really nice basketball shoes with the release of the nike basketball "BHM" pack, featuring BHM kobe VIII's, Lebron X, and the KD V. Today on February 2nd we will be getting the nike lunar force spin.

     In other news, the Adidas Street ball was given a crazy make over by, the mad sneaker scientist, Jeremy Scott. You have to have some crazy confidence to wear these, but I would give you props.

Air Jordan V "Fire Reds"

I just picked up theses shoes and I already love them. Its a classic color way embodied into a classic shoe. If you havent picked them up yet you can find them on the internet somewhere. Either way this is a nice pick up and definitely sneakerporn.

Weakly Sneaks

     The Biggest sneaker new story of the week for me and many other fellow sneaker heads is the new release info. and price tag on the retro '88 cement 3's released by Nike. 

These shoes sport the OG nike air on the back of the shoe. They will be releasing February 6, but they are gonna hurt your wallet with a price of $200. 

     Last year the galaxy pack changed everything in the sneaker game with the galaxy foams to the "big bang" Lebrons. Many sneakerheads were mad last year for not being able to cop a pair, here is your second chance with many pictures surfacing of the Nike 2013 galaxy pack. 

 

     If you enjoyed the Ewings in red and black they will be releasing it in an orange suede color way. Personally, the Ewings were not my favorite shoe. If I am buying outside Nike and Jordan. Its gonna be new balance. Those three shoe companies are the only ones that I'll find acceptable to wear, a nice collaboration is cool though. What do you guys think? Let us know in the comments. 

Nike Penny V "Dolphins"

Back in November, footlocker had a campaign called the week of greatness. During this week, there were several shoes released including  the Pink Foamposites, Bred 4's, and also these Penny V's. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a pair of these. Penny's have always been my favorite line of shoes, because of there uniqueness, color schemes, and also performance and comfort. ThePenny V is an extremely lightweight shoe with a mostly mesh upper. The icy sole adds a nice finishing touch, and as always, the dolphins inspired colorway is very nice. Being a huge dolphins fan myself, I had to buy these.

Nike KD V "Splatter"

Nike ended 2012 on a big note by releasing the Nike Basketball "Christmas" Collection on December 26th, and then releasing the KD V "Splatter" and Lebron X "Prism" on New Years Eve, both of which I was able to purchase. This shoe has a sport grey upper, with violet force accents on the swoosh, the inner and also the laces. The shoe is finished with a violet colored sole. The shoe has a nice contrast of bland and also loud colors, which really makes the shoe special. Let us know what you guys think of them.

Nike KD V "BHM" and "BHM" Nike elite socks

The Nike KD V has been a relatively hot shoe so far this year, with the christmas, maryland, and splatter colorways releasing already, and nike has stayed up to par by releasing the very detailed "BHM" colorway. The very fine details and designs are what make this shoe stand out, and the african print is made with 3m, giving the shoe an extra touch. Priced at $135, the shoe released today, January 26th.      Hey Sneaks and Snaps! I've been asked to post a small entry on my collection so far. My story is that of this: I started collecting freshman year of high school from my very first pair of cherry 13's. After many comeups and hard work, my collection has progressed a year and a half to what it is now. Some may call me a hypebeast. in a way, I am. But In another sense, every kid is. Every kid wants the most expensive shoe to be able to show off, rather than have the GR's most kids have nowadays. Jordans have no longer become rare, but now are seen everywhere. The only way to stick out now is by spending BANK which reflects my collection. i have yet to get most of the shoes i want, and by the end of senior year i intend to have them. Hard work is reflected in my collection as well. working many hours to earn your shoes really makes you appreciate the shoes you wear everyday, and you really learn that there is a true love to the game. Highlights

Kevin durant laced up in a PE (Player Exclusive) color way of the KD 5's that matched his retro jersey.

The Lebron X "yellow diamond" and the KD 5 "homes" were released yesterday. The Lebrons received no hype, neither did the KD 5 "homes". However I thought the KD's were a great color way.

In my mind the release of the 2013 air maxes will generate a lot of change in peoples "kick-around" shoes and will have some nice colorways in store.

2013 Means New Things for This Blog

     First off blog post are going to increase to hopefully weekly posts on friday. Second, I am going to try and interview Boston sneaker heads and smaller companies. I'll try and give you guys some insight on shoes releasing soon and some highlights about them, and where  you can get more information on them.
